Who we are

What we collect, and why

An identity anchor. To attach your actions to something, we create an anonymous device identifier stored in your browser. If you choose to, you can add an email address or phone number so you can return on another device. Entering through Telegram uses your Telegram ID instead. You can use ReNet with the anonymous anchor alone.

What you choose to tell us. Your name, one line about yourself, and what you are looking for or offering. All of it is optional. The more you fill in, the more you can see of others — but nothing forces you.

Where you checked in. When you scan a QR code or confirm your presence, we record the event, the zone, the time and how the presence was verified. If you allow location access, we also record the coordinates and their accuracy at that moment — this raises how much we trust the check-in. Refusing location never blocks anything.

Who you met. Connections you make, and any private notes you write about a person. Notes are visible only to you.

Photos. Photos you upload are stripped of EXIF metadata (which contains GPS coordinates and device serial numbers) before storage. A face is personal data: photos are shown only to confirmed co-attendees, and you can delete them at any time.

Technical records. IP address, browser identification and request logs, kept to keep the service running and to detect abuse.

Cookies

We set exactly two cookies: renet_theme and renet_lang. Both store a choice you made yourself — your colour theme and your language. We use no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party scripts and no embedded content. That is why you see no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Your browser also stores your identity anchor and session token locally so you are not logged out between visits.

Legal basis

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — providing the networking service you asked for.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — location and photographs. You give it per action, and you can withdraw it.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — security, abuse prevention and keeping the service working.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to advertisers. Other participants see only what your profile level exposes. Event organisers receive aggregate figures — how many people were present, what the room was looking for — never lists of individuals. Your email, phone and messaging handles are never shown to anyone unless you deliberately share them.

How long we keep it

One-time login codes are deleted within a day. Stated intents expire on their own. Everything else is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is anonymised: your name, contacts and notes disappear, while the anonymous count of attendance at an event remains, so the organiser's statistics do not silently change.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable export, or object to processing. Write to contact form. Export and deletion are also available from within the app. If you believe we handle your data wrongly, you may complain to Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).
